Most companies that have been around since 1968 are not still owned by the people who built them. Century is. Steve Donato evolved the business from a local handyman shop into a premier kitchen and bath specialty firm through decades of solving complex renovation challenges. He still hand-selects every team member, still walks every project at major milestones, and still answers the phone at (847) 395-3418. Not a service desk. His actual number.
The growth pattern is unusual for the industry. Most Lake County remodelers either stay small or scale up through franchise or private-equity ownership that flattens the company's character. Century took a different path. The company grew by accumulating skilled trades on the payroll rather than building a sales-and-subcontractor model. WHAT TO EXPECT
When you call (847) 395-3418 or fill out the contact form, the first conversation is with our office, who schedules a free consultation. The consultation happens either at our Third Lake showroom or at your home. There is no deposit, no obligation, and no high-pressure sales tactics. We measure, listen, and learn what you actually want from the space.
Your designer develops a custom 3D rendering of the finished project at no charge. You walk the space before any deposit clears, including cabinet finish, countertop pattern, tile, fixtures, and lighting. If the rendering is not what you wanted, we revise it. If you decide not to move forward with Century, you keep what you have learned.
We develop a menu-style itemized estimate covering every line of the project. Materials, labor, fixtures, permits, dumpster, cleanup, all separate. You see exactly where every dollar goes before you sign. We do not offer a starting price with hidden line items.
Our in-house licensed crews handle demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, tile, cabinet installation, countertop fabrication, fixture installation, lighting, paint, and final finishes. We protect adjacent flooring with drop cloths, contain dust between work zones, and sweep floors before the crew leaves each day.
We meet inspectors on site so you do not lose a workday. We send weekly progress updates from your project manager. When complete, we walk the project with you, complete any punch list, and file your written limited lifetime warranty in your project record. That sequence has not changed since 1968.
