WHY LIBERTYVILLE HOMEOWNERS CHOOSE CENTURY

Most remodelers see your address. We see your floor plan.

Libertyville's housing stock tells a story most remodelers do not bother to read. The eight percent of homes built before 1940 sit primarily in and around Copeland Manor, where you find original lath and plaster, knob-and-tube remnants, joists you did not expect, and floor plans designed for a smaller, more compartmentalized way of living.

Prewar Homes (Before 1940)

The eight percent of homes built before 1940 sit primarily in and around Copeland Manor. You find original lath and plaster, knob-and-tube remnants, joists you did not expect, and floor plans designed for a smaller, more compartmentalized way of living.

Mid-Century Homes (1960s–1980s)

The median construction year of 1976 accounts for The Oaks, Sunnyside Park, Valley Park, and the early Greentree builds. You find aluminum wiring in some homes, original galvanized supply lines, and kitchens built around appliances that no longer exist.

Newer Subdivisions (1990s–2000s)

The newer subdivisions like Winchester Estates, Wineberry, and Riva Ridge come with engineered lumber, Pex plumbing, and integrated low-voltage that demands a different kind of competence. Opening up a 2003 builder-grade floor plan is a different project entirely.

Steve Donato has owned Century Kitchens & Bath since taking over the family business, and he answers his own phone at (847) 395-3418. Our designers, plumbers, electricians, and carpenters are in-house. Every estimate is itemized line by line, like a menu, so you can see exactly where every dollar goes before you sign anything.

We have been remodeling Lake County homes since the year Libertyville's downtown still had hitching posts. Most of our competitors were not in business then.

WE KNOW THIS VILLAGE

From Copeland Manor to Wineberry, we have worked across Libertyville.

Copeland Manor. Built between 1928 and 2021, Copeland Manor sits east of Milwaukee off Rockland Road, walking distance to downtown. The neighborhood is a mix of original prewar homes and infill construction. Renovation work in the original homes typically involves plaster walls, knob-and-tube remnants, and original lath.

Greentree. Developed in the late 1970s by Miller Builders. Three hundred and thirty homes on tree-lined meandering streets, with floor plans from 1,200 to 2,500 square feet. Most of our Greentree projects involve removing the wall between the kitchen and family room.

Heritage Area. The downtown area near Cook Avenue, anchored by Cook Park. Heritage Area homes range from 1880s through midcentury. Exterior or significant alteration work may require Village review.

The Oaks, Winchester Estates, Riva Ridge. Construction ranging from the 1960s through 2000s, with varied floor plans, lot sizes, and renovation needs. From original galvanized supply lines to engineered lumber and Pex plumbing, we have worked across all of them.

If your home is on a Libertyville street and we have not named your subdivision, call (847) 395-3418. We will tell you exactly what to expect before you sign anything.

HERITAGE AREA AND HISTORIC HOMES

Libertyville's downtown won the Great American Main Street Award. The homes around it deserve the same care.

Libertyville's downtown Heritage Area, anchored by Milwaukee Avenue and Cook Park, won the 1997 Great American Main Street Award for the integrity of its preserved 1880s commercial architecture. The homes in and around the Heritage Area share the same era and the same construction sensibility.

The Adler Arts Center occupies the actual former home of David Adler, one of the most significant residential architects of early-twentieth-century America. Adler designed estates throughout the North Shore including in Lake Forest, Lake Bluff, and Libertyville. Renovation work on homes built in this era requires more than competence with modern materials. It requires a remodeler who knows when to update and when to leave the original detail alone.

Renovation work on certain historic properties or in designated areas may trigger additional Village review. We coordinate with the Village of Libertyville Building Department, prepare submission packages where needed, and walk you through what to expect before you commit to a design direction.

If your home is a historic property or in the Heritage Area, ask us about the review process during your free consultation.
